You pulled your cloak around yourself, refusing to let the October chill touch you. The thing is, when you buy your costume online, you can see exactly what it will look like. They never tell you how thin it is... In hindsight, you're starting to think you would have been better off going with the Eskimo coat and boots.

As you walked down the dark sidewalk, empty bag in hand, you couldn't help but smile at all the children happily going from door to door, begging for candy. You remembered doing that when you were younger, but this year, you were going to do something different. Your bag was for a different kind of treat.

So, you adjusted your blood-splattered fangs and continued to your destination, your heels clacking on the concrete. The dark house loomed up ahead ominously, drawing an excited smile to your lips. Already you could see a few figures gathered there, pacing and waiting for the others to arrive.

You picked up your dress and hurried over there, hardly able to wait any longer. You were anticipating the danger and terror that lurked within that old house. Supposedly, it was haunted. The story went that a soldier had plans to marry his love and then live with her in this house, but he was killed in battle before he had the chance. Grieving for her love, the young woman came to this house, locked herself in the basement, and hung herself in her wedding dress.

Just thinking of the old story sent a chill down your spine, and you loved every second of it. Your mission: go down to the basement and cut a corner of the dress. Rumors said that it was cursed and had been put back inside the house after the body was removed. The dress had caused the death of two more soldiers, both of whom had waiting loves in that town. After that, the townspeople declared it cursed and threw it back in the basement.

You really didn't believe that to be true, seeing as it was World War Two and lots of men were killed in battle. You doubted a dress on the other side of an ocean could cause such a thing. More likely it was an enemy machine gun. Much more threatening than a white gown, in your opinion.

But, it still intrigued you enough to check it out. You convinced your friends to tag along as well. As you neared the house, the last of them showed up, each in costume.

Alfred was the first to greet you, smiling from behind his Captain America mask. "Yo! 'Sup dude?! You ready for this?!"

Arthur rolled his eyes, his Sherlock Holmes cape falling behind his shoulders as he crossed his arms. "Oh, be quiet, you git. It's not that big a deal."

"You're just scared, mon cher~" Francis taunted, laughing from behind his Phantom of the Opera half mask.

"You all need to grow up, aru." Yao scoffed, putting his white, pawed hands upon the hips of his Hello Kitty costume.

Try as you might, you couldn't connect that statement coming from him.

"Ah, privyet!" Ivan greeted in his usual tone, cheerful and menacing. "I am not late, da?" He looked rather handsome in his costume, though you couldn't quite place it. He was dressed in some sort of royal robes and tunic with a sword at his side.

You made note to ask him later.

"No, you're fine." Replied a quiet voice, this one belonging to a violet-eyed werewolf.

You smiled at your friends. "So! Shall we go inside?"

The others agreed and you all made your way to the front of the house.

Alfred, of course, was the first to enter, declaring that the hero had to make sure it was safe before the others could enter.

As you all walked in, you looked about the dark interior.

Vintage furniture crowded the den, a dusty old fireplace against the side. Sheets were draped across everything, and the floor, creaked and groaned under the weight of the new occupants. A sliver of moonlight snuck in through the boarded up windows, casting jagged shadows upon everything.

The entire place got your heart pumping, excitement boiling up.

Suddenly, there was a crash from a far room, like the sound of shattering glass, followed by a loud thumping about and scraping from just above your head.

You froze, suddenly unsure. However, you weren't going to let your fear get the best of you. After all, what was Halloween without a little fear? You turned to your friends. "So, what should we do?"

Arthur thought for a moment. "Well, I am curious to know what those noises were, as well as explore the basement." He did a quick headcount. "I think we should split up into two groups of two and one group of three."

Ivan nodded. "Is good idea. You can go with Francis, Alfred will go with Matvey, and I'll go with Yao." He and the brothers appeared to be the only ones remotely okay with that suggestion, but none of them presented anything better.

"Wait, what about her?" Alfred jerked his thumb at you, a slightly upset look on his face. "Where is she gonna go?"

"Ah, right." Arthur cleared his throat. "Love, you can choose which group you'd like to go with, and where they'll go. Is that alright with you?"

You nodded happily, already forming the perfect plan of sneaking into the same group as your longtime crush, maybe even grabbing onto his arm in case you get "scared". It seemed like a plan well in your favor. "That's fine with me! And I know exactly who to chose!"
So, here is a short little choose your own adventure story. It will have three parts and I hope y'all will enjoy it. I had quite the time plotting it out, so I hope I was able to communicate everything properly. The actual legend behind the haunted house came as I was writing this part, so that's why it's kinda lame. No forethought there. *shrug*

Lol, right after Arthur suggested to split up, I would've been gone. First upstairs to find the source of the crash, then the basement to see the dress, making sure to scare the others as I go. I'm so evil. :3
